Lorena Martinez is a Functional Nutrition and Lifestyle Practitioner certified by the Functional Nutrition Alliance, she is also a Registered Prenatal Yoga Teacher that has supported pregnant and postpartum mamas for over a decade in the Bay Area. Lorena is passionate about working with women through life transitions to help them live life at their fullest potential.
On this pregnancy nutrition series you will learn how to optimize your meals according to your trimester to nurture your body and avoid deficiencies, you will also understand how to better deal with common health issues such as nausea, heartburn and more. We will also discuss the safe use supplements to enhance your pregnancy so you and your baby can thrive.
PART 1 - Saturday May 8th from 2:30pm - 3:30pm
During pregnancy you might think you know what healthy eating looks like, but did you know that Vitamin B6 helps alleviate morning sickness? Or did your know your heart muscles need essential fat for energy and that your baby’s heart starts developing in uterus at 6 weeks?
On this class you will learn many interesting facts like this and more, you will understand WHY you should avoid certain foods completely and what foods you should indulge while keeping your baby’s development in mind. I will talk from a Functional Nutrition perspective about how you can use food and specific nutrients to ease nausea, heartburn, leg cramps and truly balance your diet for each stage of pregnancy.
PART 2 - Saturday June 12th from 2:30pm - 3:30pm
In the second class of the series you will learn how to prepare your body for labor and postpartum, we will talk about ideal foods to lower your chances of developing postpartum depression and enhance milk production, we will also cover how to optimize your gut flora so your baby gets it’s first immunity boost at birth and how to do that in case of a cesarean birth. You will also understand what nutrients you can eat to optimize your body’s ability to self repair and how to prep nutritious meals after your baby comes to keep yourself nurtured as you care for your newborn.
