Dr. Kari is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist with more than 15 years of experience working with patients of all types throughout the Bay Area. At Blossom, Kari found warmth, support, community, and information that helped her through her own journey with infertility and pregnancy loss, births that did not go as planned, and adjustment to parenthood. She is grateful and excited to be able to give back to this community by sharing her professional and personal experience with the next generation of mamas.
As a therapist, Dr. Kari’s primary approach is based in Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT). CFT encompasses biological, evolutionary, and psychological science and is based on the idea that the best way to decrease suffering is by cultivating deep compassion for oneself and for others. Kari also has an extensive background in other evidence-based therapies, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). These therapies teach people skills to change thoughts and behaviors that interfere with achieving their goals and to better manage emotions that may feel overwhelming, confusing, or frustrating. Kari earned a Psy.D. from the PGSP-Stanford Psy.D. Consortium, along with a BA from UCLA and an MSc from the London School of Economics. She lives in Belmont with her husband and two school-aged sons. For more information about Kari, please visit www.Dr-Kari.com or contact her directly at [email protected] or 510-798-5513. |
