Mendy Thijssen
Yoga Instructor and Childbirth Educator
Mendy Thijssen has been supporting prenatal and postpartum families since 2002. Mendy is a wife and mother to Amalea (2005) and Liam (2008). She is an active homeschooler for her high school son, along with teaching groups of other elementary-high school homeschool kids at a local co-op. Mendy has worked in the capacity of a childbirth educator, mentoring Birthing From Within classes as well as hospital based classes at Palo Alto Medical Foundation.
She has worked teaching yoga at Blossom in the past, as well as Palo Alto Medical Foundation, 10 years leading prenatal yoga in a 2nd chance school with teen moms, teen, kids, and laughter yoga in her homeschooling and Girl Scouting community, and is continually taking new training to add to her skillset. Mendy is an active volunteer with Girl Scouts and also serving families in need who are food and housing insecure.
As a doula she's attended more than 150 births in hospital and at home and brings those stories and experiences to all of the work she does. Mendy served for many years on the Board at Blossom as well as having the privilege of being Blossom's first ever employee when they first started hiring on staff many years ago. She is delighted to be joining the Blossom team again!
