Growing Together  - Connect with your village

Postponed - stay tuned for new dates

Join Lisa Westhorpe for Growing Together, an innovative 7-week class series for moms and babies. Growing Together provides connection, support and guidance on infant development and play for babies, and realistic self care for moms, in a relaxed, non-judgmental environment. Come for the evidence-based information and activities, and leave with a ready-made group of mom friends to support you through your transition into motherhood.

The class is suitable for new moms from the immediate postpartum onwards through to when baby turns 7 months old (pre-crawling). The class has six taught sessions with topics related to mom and baby, and one ‘coffee and chat’ session where moms can connect and build community. This unique course led by a Masters-qualified pediatric and maternal health occupational therapist will guide you through your first experiences with your baby, so that you feel confident in being the parent you want to be.

What you will learn

In addition to growing your community and making new connections with other moms, you will learn:
  • How to make tummy time fun rather than stressful.
  • Songs and activities to support your baby to develop their skills.
  • Supportive advice on common parenting concerns such as baby sleep, teething, gas, feeding issues and introducing solids.
  • How to deal with common parenting concerns such as baby sleep, teething, gas and feeding issues.
  • How to incorporate self care into the activities you already do.
  • How to avoid injuries when caring for your baby.
  • Correct posture and ergonomics to reduce pain and care for your body while you care for baby.
  • The basics of core and pelvic floor rehab post-birth.
  • Gentle stretches and breathing exercises for relaxation.
  • How to manage your time and expectations as a parent so you can return to the activities you love.
