Partner Support Prep

Picture
Join experienced birth professionals Catherine or Tracie for this online class to learn the best way to support your partner through labor, delivery and the early postpartum period.  This class is truly one of a kind and offered with the support partner specifically in mind. We strongly recommend that support partners have taken a childbirth preparation class prior to taking this class as it will build onto basic information learned in a childbirth preparation class or series.  Birthing partners are welcome to join us, but our focus will be on the perspective of the supporting partner.  Come join us in learning how to apply support techniques through the entire pregnancy, labor, delivery and postpartum journey to help create the best experience for your family.

What you will learn

  • Emotional and physical needs during late pregnancy
  • The birthing partner’s departure from work/non-birthing partner’s postpartum leave expectations
  • The signs and stages of labor and how to apply comfort measures at each stage of labor
  • Hands on comfort measures and strategies for labor
  • How to effectively utilize your care team (OB/Midwife/Doula)
  • Your support roles and responsibilities during labor
  • When to call the care provider and/or leave for the hospital
  • Questions to ask about interventions
  • What to expect during homebirth, birth center, and hospital stays and discharge
  • Planning for a successful postpartum as a non-birthing person
  • How best to support the birthing person in the immediate postpartum - bonding, feeding, healing, emotional expectations
  • Realistic postpartum expectations- sleep, nursing/feeding, healing, time management, & postpartum intimacy
  • Navigating family and friend visits
  • Community resources for you and your partner
  • Couples communication

"The partner support prep course was very helpful as it is all from the perspective of the partner. This way they are included as well and helps them to see what they can do to support those giving birth. The course is packed with materials that are all useful and 3 hours flew by. The course was also affordable. I did see only men joining this course ... The course focuses on prep for birth, birth as well as post birth. You could supplement this with online reading materials about birth itself if preferred but this course may eliminate needing some of the other, more costly as well as more time intensive courses out there.
Overall, very helpful and I recommend it!
